Frequently asked questions

1. What is Cookn?

Cookn, in a nutshell, is an online food marketplace and delicatessen.

We provide a platform through which;

      • Talented and amateur cooks and bakers can sell their freshly prepared consumable items to customers in their local area / community and;
      • Small independent companies and individual producers of artisanal goods can sell their products to consumers nationwide.

We champion individuals (such as home cooks) or small independent companies that deliver freshly prepared, quality items, produced in sustainable quantities.

We believe that food has the power to unite people, and that is why we are passionate about bringing new flavours and recipes to new audiences around the world.

2. How does your platform work?

Our platform offers a simple and convenient way for cooks, vendors and small / independent companies to sell a wide variety of food and products to consumers.

Each cook, vendor and small / independent company, has their own profile through which they list and sell the food and / or products they have produced.

Consumers can then order and rate the products and / or freshly prepared meals they purchased, helping grow small businesses, and informing other consumers of the best cooks, vendors and small / independent companies on our platform.

3. I'm a cook / creator how do I get involved?

Regardless whether you consider yourself a cook, baker, patissier, chef, brewer, distiller or any other form of producer / creator of (legal) artisanal consumable goods, we would love to have you onboard!

You can signup using this link!

4. Can I only buy or sell meals on this platform?

No, our platform caters for an extensive array of consumable goods, some examples include: freshly made pasta, gnocchi, pastries, breads, cakes, lasagna, burritos, jams, sauces, mixed spices.

If you can legally eat or drink it, we probably have it!

5. How much does it cost?

Listing items on our platform is completely FREE! Only when sellers / vendors make a sale through Cookn.co will we charge a commission of 12.5% (to cover processing / transactional costs) of the price displayed for each listing, including any delivery charges.

6. Do you allow companies to list products on your platform?

Yes, we allow small and independent companies to list and sell their atisanal products on our platform.

As we are not a 'fast food' platform, we don't unfortunately allow restaurants, dark kitchens or take away companies of any size to list or sell meals through our platform.

If you're still uncertain whether you are able to list food or produce on our platform, please get in touch and we'll happily evaluate your case further.

Note: We keep our policies under constant review to ensure alignment with consumer demand and market trends.

7. Why don't you allow restaurant and take away companies to sell food through the platform?

One of our key objectives at Cookn is to provide a platform for talented local (home) cooks to prepare and sell quality fresh food in sustainable quantities.

Cookn is not a fast food delivery ordering platform such as Ubereats, Deliveroo or Justeat.

10. What food safety measures do you implement?

We take food safety very seriously, which is why all of the cooks and vendors who sell through our platform have to meet and maintain local government standards (where applicable) such as;

  2. Registering with their local council
